Young the Giant: God Made Man Meaning
God Made Man Lyrics
But when all the gates have closed and your tired,
You stand a while by the fire and it burns bright,
A while, a while you sit quiet,
Inside you're so warm,
Your eyes open up to the sunrise,

"God made man" is not a hard song to understand, because the implications are very straight forward to anyone who understands the basic descriptions of religious texts, or even references through Biblical or Abrahamic alliteration.
"You never know the weight of your crimes," from this we can see that man can never know the weight of their own sins, because only God can judge man. "But when all the gates have closed and your tired," this references the gates of heaven that close to sinners after judgment.
"You stand a while by the fire and it burns bright, a while, a while, you sit quiet." The fire represents Hell, or Hel where you have no way to ask for help, or voice yourself.
From these three lines we can infer this is someone who sees the future, or knows the fate of man, maybe a prophet, or God himself relaying prophesy. Later in the song the the lyrics are different depending on the lyrics site, for some odd reason. One version says: "Cause I want you to know, that I know." This would comply with the God theory, mid-lyrics even imply dialogue from Christ. But some other versions say: "Cause I want you to know, that I don't." This line either implies that it is not God, or God is not an all knowing being. However you can consider that the song changed perspective, and changes to that of man.
Lastly, there is the background lyrics accompanying the end-lyrics that read: "God made man, and his reason." This can either mean just as it is, or it can be an incomplete statement followed by the end lyrics. Together they are read: "God made man and his reason... Cause I wanted to know."
