Song Released: 2013
Fight fear for the selfish pain it was worth it every time
Hold still right before we crash, ‘cause we both know how this ends
A clock ticks 'till it breaks your glass and I drown in...

Its about two people, one has a major problem with the other but cannot let go because the other pulls him or her back in and the love they share is too strong, but the problem is going to pull them apart over and over again and it cant be stopped.

They are having an affair... Their love is tragedy Bc they both know at the end of the day they will choose to not leave their partner/spouse so why be together if its not gonna go anywhere? But they cant stop seeing each other... clarity/remedy Bc they are good for each other and make each other happy.. Basically the song is about Lovers that can't be together.

It's about a girl who loves this boy but then she knew that they can't be in love ; they're not meant to be together but she knew that she's in love with him no matter how hard it is to accept that it's impossible for them to be together. One day , she thought , 'Why do I feel different with him around?' And then she thought that she knew clearly about this boy but why is it she's still in love with his presence. She knew that these feelings that she had with this guy is true.

I think I could mean whatever you want it to be, it doesn’t have to be the orignal meaning. Like in some clarity memes it’s that a bullly(person A) makes fun of person B for having something that they don’t use or a really old toy, and that “toy” is one of the last or last things that a loved one gave to them perfore they passed away. Then the bully threw it off the building and person B just to get it

I think I write that song and you can write in the book and writing about yourself and especially we wrote music on a book and poems and into that music and Ben want music to sing and songwriter, but we’re creating the music into a book and write about ourselves and then we can be like ourselves and sing our different ways, and sometimes when I booked travel all the world. But we’re great songwriters and creating book of music different songs but we’re having issues, and but Ben wanted to write first song ourselves to be who we are.

I agree with the affair interpretation. In fact, this song describes my affair perfectly.
"Fight fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time
Hold still right before we crash 'cause we both know how this ends
A clock ticks 'till it breaks your glass and I drown in you again"
We fear getting caught and yet we continue. We know it's selfish and yet it's been worth it. We know it will end at some point but for now we keep coming back to each other.
"'Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need
If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?
If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?"
We both feel more fulfilled and content with life being together and yet, because it's an affair, we know it's wrong (i.e., a tragedy/insanity) and we wish we didn't need each other to be happy.
"Don't speak as I try to leave 'cause we both know what we'll choose
If you pull then I push too deep and I'll fall right back to you"
I have tried to leave and end it many times even though neither of us wants to end it (i.e., we know we will choose to stay together). He's plead for me to stay and each time I've fallen back to him and we end up staying together.

You chose your path, and I chose mine. But I still care for you.

I feel like this song describes a freshman and senior and high school. I know it sounds weird, but it makes sense to me. I am writing a story about it, and this song comes to mind. The first line in the second verse describes a red parade, and seniors usually graduate on red gowns. It's also hard for the two to be together because of the age gap and remarks from others, and I feel like this song describes repeatedly how the relationship has no future and will eventually end. That is my interpretation.
anonymous Sep 15th, 2019 9:14pm report
My interpretation is that it is a couple who has had a lot of drama but in the future, it gets better
"still fight and I don't know why" meaning that they had a fight and she/he is upset about what they said or did
"if our love is tragedy why are you my remedy, if our love is insanity why are you my clarity" meaning that it got better but still needs more adjusting to the love they have for each other .

It's amazing how all art is interpreted in different ways. This song came out when I was going through a very difficult time in my life. I had just left an abusive relationship. I went through the withdrawals of being without the only person in my life I had learned to rely on I struggled with the loss of a constant in my life. In some ways I picked out certain things from this song. Like when she said " you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need" to me it referred to knowing someone is not good for you but fighting the feeling of desperation. " If our love is tragedy why are you my remedy" if our loves insanity why are you my clarity" meaning our relationship might be our demise if we stay together and I'm seriously screwed in the head to be with you but you eventually show me your true colors and I see what love isn't. So in a way I just kind of associated with my experience at hand. It's almost like hearing what you want to hear. I do love this song still because it is a beautiful reminder of how far I've come from the dark place I was in ♥️

My ex said this was our song and i asked if that was a good thing and she said yes it is and smiled so i take it as a song about two people who have been through the same struggles in life. they want to be together but they dont want to get hurt so they just stay close to eachother and maybe find there way back to each other
This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

I relate to this song, because I fell in love with someone. We were close friends, it seemed like more sometimes, but we never got together. I found out this person had a problem, and it got to the point where i hardly ever saw them anymore. I try to let go, but I still love them, even though they aren't good for me. But they honestly was one of the best people I ever had in my life, and I still miss him, after a year of being heartbroken...

I was in college and had just broken up with my boyfriend of 8 months when this song came out. I was heartbroken and regretted breaking up more than anything I would have imagined. Two weeks later I learned he had a new boyfriend. It happened to be the guy he cheated on me with. I was obsessed and desperate for any type of communication from him. It would make my heart race and give me mental clarity and peace for just a moment. I was depressed all summer long and I would play this song over and over as I slowly healed and got over the love of my life that I knew I would never call mine again.

I'm pretty sure this song is a personification of an addiction to smoking methamphetamine, and here is a line-by-line explanation of why:
"Hot dive into frozen waves"
would be about heating crystals until they melt in order to inhale the vapors
"where the path comes back to life"
could still refer to the melted crystals flowing around, or to the repetitive feeding of the familiar path of addiction to get a feeling similar to a young love that has been lost/dead
"Fight fear for the selfish pain, it was worth it every time"
meaning that they are trying to cope with a fear of withdrawing/coming down, especially since being higher means a worse come-down, but trying to get as high as possible anyway
"Hold still right before we crash 'cause we both know how this ends"
When a meth addict runs out of the drug after obsessing with it and tweeking they tend to get lethargic and unenthusiastic, but they generally understand that they have to come down eventually. So, when they know the end of the high is approaching (usually due to a lack of sleep/drugs/money) they will often lay still and defeated/depressed.
"A clock ticks 'till it breaks your glass and I drown in you again"
means time being high is constantly counting forward, until the glass used to vaporize the drug breaks from heating with a butane torch and any melted drugs inside spill onto the user
"Cause you are the piece of me I wish I didn't need"
refers to the user wanting to stop, but addiction has already taken hold
"Chasing relentlessly, still fight and I don't know why"
refers to the user's constant struggle to find/obtain more drugs to avoid withdrawing
"If our love is tragedy, why are you my remedy?"
means if this is so horrible, why does it make me feel better?
"If our love's insanity, why are you my clarity?"
If this is so crazy/pointless to try to stay high forever, then why is it the one thing I'm so sure about wanting?
"Walk on through a red parade and refuse to make amends"
refers to the full grip of addiction and refusing to fix the problem
"It cuts deep through our ground and makes us forget all common sense"
refers to the quick erosion of the addict's moral grounding, leading to them doing things they would never have done before drugs
"Don't speak as I try to leave 'cause we both know what we'll choose"
There are no words that could ever seem more important than the drug of choice for some addicts, and overcoming the addiction seems hopeless
"If you pull and I push too deep then I'll fall right back to you"
Even if an addict does manage to get clean, the danger of relapsing and falling into old habits will always be there. It can be all too easy to be pushed back into old patterns of addiction if the addict lets themselves get pulled into thinking they can just go back for one more high.
This song has many layers and could be about any addicting yet unhealthy/painful relationship, but the word choices seem to point towards a personified relationship with the writer's addiction to meth.

only an addict would say this song is about drugs , lol, cause it is, cause we know that feeling. but others will of course see it as a relationship. we personify our addiction. its a messed up thing. it could be both things.
