Songs about Deviance
The word "deviance" harkens back to Dionysus of Greek mythology. It's about actions or behavior that violate social norms and customs. It shocks the neighbors, gets the cops chasing you, or just makes preachers make a lot of sermons about what you shouldn't do. When you come down to it, a lot of the genres of rock and roll is about deviating from the norms, even from itself. Punk, heavy metal, rap, and many other genres at least got their start being angry rebels spitting in the eye of propriety.
So, these songs praise deviance in all its hedonistic abandon. While we're not about to encourage you to practice what they preach, perhaps they're nevertheless important to remind us to think outside the box once in awhile. The best person is improved just slightly by having a little devil in them.
