2 Heads Lyrics

There must be something in the water
And there must be something about your daughter
She said our love ain't nothing but a monster
Our love ain't nothing but a monster with two heads
I turn to you
You're all I see
Our love's a monster with...

I think this song is about winning someone over who is in a different relationship. “We just got caught up in the moment… why don’t you call me in the morning instead,” is about listing over someone and maybe even getting a little to close to a kiss or sex. I think he’s recommending they both cool off and think about it before they do anything. “Our love ain’t nothing but a monster… a monster with two heads and one heart beat,” I think has to do with the guilt of cheating or adultery— the act of doing so being as terrible as a two-headed monster (both are doing it?) but both being committed to the “sin” (infidelity). “I hope to God I love you longer/harder…” has to do with comparing himself to whoever she’s currently with. “There must be something in the water,” is maybe talking about how everyone sins in some way… or maybe that everyone is sinning/has a vice. “There must be something ‘bout your daughter,” — this is his vice. “She said: our love ain’t nothing but a monster—a monster with two heads” means she wants to be with him too.

Two heads and one heartbeat is the pregnant mother with child. He’s disgusted by the possibility of her getting pregnant and encouraging abortion. It’s a common phrase when multiple women get pregnant in a group like at your office for example for people to start joking “there must be something in the water”. Also encouraging she take the “morning after pill” with his lyric call me in the morning to avoid becoming the two-headed monster.

I think it might be that the woman is in a relationship that’s purely sexual, and he (Coleman Hell) is trying to show the woman heartfelt and true- not just physical- love.

It is a song about a relationship in turmoil. The 2 heads with 1 heart is in relation to a person with 2 personalities and one love for someone who does not understand the bi-polar person who loves them. The family and especially the daughter does not understand why they stay in the toxic relationship.

I just figure its of course about love..but a love that cant be for whatever reason that may be. The two of them together causes chaos, a type chaos that would not only affect the two of them but all of those around them. "Something in the water" I often hear that as being referred to "Drinking the Kool-aid" so to speak...everyones drinking it, everyones gonna catch whatever that is in the water, everyone will be affected by it.

Cant resist one another, and keep coming back for more. Even on their own they're fucked up but the combo of the two of em is amazing yet hell all on its own. Somehow and for some reasoning beyond alot of peoples knowledge you just cant seem to stop yourself something that you knows not good for you but it sure does feel good in the moment.

I think it might be a little different, mainly from the line "There must be something with your daughter". In the song, he is only talking to his love. I don't think his pov changed. Instead, I think he is dating a single mother and her daughter doesn't approve, perhaps she doesnt want to share her mom, etc. I think he is talking about how in love he is, but the daughter hates them together so they try not to get carried away with their affection in front of her

Let me start with saying this is my favorite song.

Now, to me, this song is a break up song. They got into a fight, and she broke it off.

"There must be something in the water."
This is probably referring to some sort of alcohol, most likely vodka.

"And there must be something about your daughter. She said our love ain't nothing but a monster with 2 heads."
He's venting with someone (her dad?). He is saying that there is something wrong with her because she's calling their love a monster.

"I turn to you, you're all I see. Our love's a monster with 2 heads and one heartbeat."
(Here is where the romantic part is, a big reason why, I think, you'd want this song for you two.) This demonstrates how much he cares about her. They have 2 heads so they don't always agree but one heartbeat shows how much they are in tune with each other, at least to him.

"We just got caught up in the moment"
Here's the fight. People say a lot of things when they're angry, easily getting caught in the moment. It's not a good moment either as demonstrated by the next couple lines.

"Why don't you call me in the morning instead"
He wants her to sleep on whatever just happened. He doesn't want her to make a rash decision.

"Before we turn into a monster with 2 heads"
This time around being a 2-headed monster is a bad thing. There was no mention of their shared heart beat and he's trying to prevent it.

"I hope to god I'll love you harder"
He hopes he will be able to. He doesn't know if he can due to a seemingly imminent break up.

"I hope to god I'll love you longer"
He's really hoping to get more time with her.

"If only I could live forever"
This one is pretty open. A lot of people yearn for this but in context, it seems like he would want time to convince her to stay.

"If only I could hold you longer"
Here it seems like the break up happened or is about to happen. He is wishing he could have more time to keep her close.
