   I think this song is about injustice and the falseness of a suppressing society / world.
   
   
   When you wake up in the fire
   And you harbour lies in ruins
   You wonder why the giant has been shot
   Fired off down from sky
   
   ''wake up in fire'' = dissatisfied and angry about life
   ''harbour'' = life
   ''giant'' = someone who doesn't deserve to be shot, that he's fired down off the sky
   stands for injustice, killing someone who seems dangerous but isn't and also for
   how bad one is treated for being different.
   
   
   You plead for explanation
   Is it accident or rule
   And where is you childhood hero
   To drive all the demons away
   
   ''you plead for explanation'' means that one is annoyed by the injustice of the law etc
   ''Is it accident or rule'' confirms that one shouldn't believe everything one hears, for
   example what one gets prefixed by the media.
   ''where is your childhood hero to drive all the demons away'' means that in the
   childhood everything was more lighthearted and one disregarded everything
   going on around.
   ''demons'' = everyday's dismay and cruelties which one now notices as an adult.
   
   
   What if the light
   Shines in darkness my friend
   And darkness just can't comprehend
   So blaze the trail on you own
   Go it alone
   
   ''light'' = the ''good thing'', the righteous, the society and it's ideals, what sets
   example to one in the way one lives andhow one should behave.
   ''darkness'' = the ''evil'', the protagonist of the text, the outcast who doensnt want
   to live that way, (the clever one seeing through, the metaler : D ).
   that the darkness can't ''comprehend'' means that there's just
   too much ''light'' which suppresses the darkness.

   Pain is the guide out of the wastelands
   We don't need a hero
   We are falling - falling to rise
   No charlatan to show you the light
   We don't need a hero
   
   ''falling'' = going one's own hard and solitary way being despised by the others.
   ''rise'' = proud and with farsightedness not letting oneself get blinded (by the
   (society etc). ''pain'' ( because of the hard life one has) is the
   guide out of this false world.
   ''hero'' = society's ideals, the chuch (law etc)
   ''charlatan'' = the same as hero
   
   
   Indignity is the leader
   To escort us to the fen
   Where they say the light is endemic
   If only I could comprehend
   
   ''indignity'' because one ain't ''normal'' as the ''herd'' and being punished for that.
   the rest of the text kind of explains itself now...

   Hit you as they watch you tracks
   Apart from the way that they understand
   
   ''rabble'' = society.
   ''Rabble's stones give pain'' isa comparison to the medieval lapidation, the
   rabble gives pain because, as metioned before, one, as an outsider doesnt
   go along with the others and they don't like that...
   ''apart from the way that they understand'' stands for the stupidity, ignorance
   and inexperience of the most people.
   ''hit you as they watch your tracks'' hints at people's gossipry and sensation
   seeking, also unfreedom and surveillance state.

   understood it the right way...could have described it better
   because there's much more behind it all..

   ''riese'' = jemand der es nicht verdient hat erschossen zu werden, er scheint
   gefährlich - ist es aber nicht. das er erschossen wurde steht für die
   ungerechtigkeiten auf der welt und wie schlecht jemand der ''anders'' ist behandelt

   wars ein unfall oder vorschrift
   und wo ist dein kindheitsheld
   um all die dämonen fortzutreiben
   
   ''du bittest um erklärung'' bedeutet das man sich über die ungerechtigkeit der gesetzte ärgert.
   ''unfall oder vorschrift'' bestärkt das man zweifeln und nicht alles glauben sollte was einem
   in den medien etc vorgesetzt wird. ''wo ist dein kindheitsheld um all die dämonen fortzutreiben''
   bedeutet das als kind alles noch unbeschwerter war und man alles übersah wasum einen
   herum vorging.
   dämonen = schrecken des alltags die einem als erwachsenen nun auffallen.

   in die dunkelheit scheint, mein freund
   und die dunkelheit kann es einfach nicht verstehn
   also bahne dir deinen weg selbst
   geh dafür allein
   
   ''licht'' = das ''gute'', die gesellschaft und deren ideale, was einem vorgelebt wird, und woran
   man sich halten soll.
   ''dunkelheit'' = das ''böse'', der protagonist des textes, der aussenseiter, der nicht dannach
   leben will (der kluge, durchschauende, metaler : D ). das die dunkelheit nicht ''versteht''
   bedeutet das es einfach zu viel ''licht'' gibt und sie davon unterdrückt wird.

   schmerz is der wegweiser, raus aus dem ödland

   ''fallen'' = seinen eigenen schweren einzelgängerischen weg zu gehn und verachtet zu
   werden.
   ''aufsteigen'' = sich stolz und mit weitblick nicht (von der gesellschaftetc) blenden zu
   lassen, schmerz ist dazu der wegweiser aus dieser falschen welt.
   ''held'' = gesellschaftliche wertevorstellungen, die kirche etc (unter anderem
   gesetze usw...)
   ''scharlatan ''= wie oben beschrieben held
   
   
   demütigung is der führer
   um uns zu dem sumpf zu eskortieren
   wo sie sagen das licht sei vorherrschend
   wenn ich doch nur verständnis hätte
   
   ''demütigung'' weil man nicht ''normal'' ist wie all dieherdentiere und damit von ihnen
   gestraft ist.
   
   jetz bist du alt genug um dem gegenüberzutreten
   die steine des pöbels bringn schmerz
   treffen dich während sie deine spuren verfolgen
   jenseits von dem was sie begreifen
   
   ''steine des pöbels bringen schmerz'' = vergleich mit der mittelalterlichen steinigung,
   weil man wie erwähnt als aussenseiter nicht mitzieht und dadurch vom pöbel
   schmerz erfährt.
   ''jenseits von dem was sie begreifen'' spielt auf
   die dummheit, ignoranz und unwissenheit der meisten menschen an,
   ''während sie deine spuren verfolgen'' steht für unfreiheit, das getratsche und die
   sensationsgier der leute und den überwachungsstaat
