I Interpret this song as the singer feeling lost. Most likely living each day to day mundane. When he or she meets the other person they are being exposed to a new and happier... more exciting life in a sense being rescued from themselves. Finding who they really are by finding the one person who could see who they really were inside and bringing the light back into their life.

I thinks it’s about being all alone but someone finds you and shows you who you really are. This is just my opinion.
