Mama, I'm coming home

You took me in and you drove me out
Yeah, you had...

My guess it’s about getting back with Sharon after a fuck up, like cheating, drugs, or both.

Sounds like he was separated from her but decided to get back with her even though it meant suffering with some unhappiness in the relationship—‘I don’t care about the sunshine, cause mama I’m coming home’

Or maybe I’m projecting my life into the song.

I always took it as a son going home after his mother's death- "I can't stand to say goodbye". Talking about the lies she told him how she could have been a better
mother, but he still retreats losing her and thinks of her every day.

Its a song for his wife. She was going through cancer and that made him get into drinking again because he thought he was going to lose her. He wanted to always be with her because when he first found out about the cancer, he was touring.

Wrong its the song he wrote for Sharon saying he was retiring, but he never did.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

The meaning to mama I'm coming home is about him telling Sharon that he is getting off of cocaine
