Roaring 20s Lyrics

Broadway is back like a sinkhole
Everyone raced to the suburbs
And I'm on the rooftop with curious strangers, this is the oddest of summers!

Maybe I'll medicate, maybe inebriate
Some situations I get anxious.
Maybe I'll smile a bit, maybe...

“Roaring 20s” describes Brendon Urie’s experience playing Charlie Price in the Broadway musical Kinky Boots.

Urie was “raised on musicals” and found himself infatuated with The Sound of Music and listened to a live record of Les Miserables “religiously”. Before taking the stage himself, Urie experienced Kinky Boots from the audience. Taking in the beautiful message of love and acceptance, he found himself in tears, and happy to be a part of the show in any capacity.

Though the experience began riddled with anxiety, Urie ultimately conquered his fears and found a family on Broadway.

Urie references the “roaring 20s,” because

At thirty years old [I] topped off my twenties by doing Broadway, just like everybody does.
