I think the song is about the funeral of Delta Dawn who is dead because of suicide. I believe she was a very beaitiful young woman, but her beauty escaped her in middle age and she became overwhelmed with sadness because her existance was based on her looks. The faded rose reference could be an old dress that was beautiful in its day much past it's time now that she has on in the casket or an actual old corsage from her younger more glorious days. Her daddy still called her baby at 41 because we are always beautiful children in our parent's eyes. However, she knew that she was no longer the beauty that her daddy still thought she was. And "he" (was a meeting you here today) could be an old love who left her behind or God who was meeeting her today to take her to heaven.
