The Strokes: Oblivius Meaning
Song Released: 2016
Oblivius Lyrics
It's not my midnight yet
Act like a fox but think like a sheep. Wall Street
Unchain me
Cause this is my bank's advice
We're gonna give it back to you, some other day
Take off from the runway
Thinking of a sad day
Racing down...
-
To me the song's meaning is about major social issues (corporate greed, unfair incarceration sentences, warfare, etc.) and how their being dealt with ruthlessly by systematic enforcers and carelessly shrugged off by common place people or proletariats if you will.
-
The beauty of this song is you can fit it to most controversial issues facing humans.
I like to imagine it playing whilst I'm sorting my recycling out for collection or when I am walking round charity shops or second hand furniture outlets to remind myself I am on the side of the Planet. -
What side are you on? The evil greedy banking cartel? Greed? What side are you on?
-
It means goats are oblivious to the meaning of oblivious.
