Or this song could be about his daughter from the Father's point of view in the present time or the future if it's God will to give him a daughter then and that if she would have to leave home one day to find herself in something new, he just wants to remind her to be aware of the outside world that it can be very wild and it would take more than a smile to get by in it, while wishing her well to make friends out there and that she will always be loved by him in his heart that is grievieng by her leaving with it. Hey I feel that God heard this song along time ago that came out of Cat Stevens heart and blessed him with several daughters I found out to hear this song in the present.
