I was at the 2022 concert near the end of Bright Eyes tour. During the setlist, Connor brought up his mom and how birds send her messages. This really intrigued me because I am a person who has been obsessed with learning about birds my whole life; I believe they send me messages too. His mom must be as weird as me explaining Connor's weirdness too. The whole song is weird but I really really enjoy it. Weird understands weird, it's truly a blessing.
I wish I would have recorded this part where he talked about his mother and birds, to have solid proof, but it was probably for the best this is not on YouTube. I could tell Connor and the whole amazing Bright Eyes tour were having an emotional night because they only had one month left on their tour. I felt so honored to be their that night. When he talked about his mom and birds I felt extremely connected to them. That whole night was so magical and it was my first concert with my partner of 6 years. Thank you, Bright Eyes for making me and my partner feel young again.
I believe Connor was inspired to write this song in honor of his mother. I feel it is a very emotional song about how our mother's our are whole world when we are young and we take for granted how much they give us. I believe he wrote this song to never forget how it feels to have a mother and to know this type of unconditional love.
But honestly, who knows at this point. Connor is an amazing lyricist so there could be anywhere he received the inspiration to write this song.
