What does Whisper mean?

Evanescence: Whisper Meaning

Album cover for Whisper album cover

Whisper Lyrics

Catch me as I fall
Say you're here and it's all over now
Speaking to the atmosphere
No one's here and I fall into myself
This truth drives me
Into madness
I know I can stop the pain
If I will it all away
if I will it all...

    My god, what's going on?

    Servatis a periculum
    Servatis a maleficum

... Is "familiar" (that simply means wrong) Latin.

    Right would be:

    Serva nos a periculo,
    serva nos a malefico

    and this means:

    save us from danger
    save us from WICKEDNESS

(believe in me, you just have to look it up in an online dictionary e.g. Http://www.albertmartin.de/latein/?q=maleficum&con=0)

THE ENDING -tis in servatis in Latin stands for the second person in plural so it would ACTUALLY MEAN:save yourselves from danger, save yourselves from evil.It is a message to all the fans which is the best way to end their album giving a general message to everyone.

i think this song is not based upon a religious standpoint, but a psychological standpoint. It makes the utmost sense if thought of correctly.if one is emotionally disturbed, I think one can make themselves see whatever it is one truly, deathly, wishes to see. In this song, amy lee is bringing to light that the individual she is portraying is proclaiming his/her question to answer the call of emotional death. There is a cluster of verses that support my opinion:'...death before my eyes, lying next to me I fear, she beckons me, shall I give in, upon my end shall I begin, forsaking all I've fallen, for I rise to meet the end.' these pairs of verses tell of the question, "should I give up my emotional life, or should I fight to regain control of my feelings and my life?" being asked by him/her. The last 2 verses tell, quite clearly, the individual has decided to fall into shadow and breathe the elegance of an emotionless life; never to love again.

No.... male doesn't mean death, it means bad. The latin part means.......
"Save us from the danger, save us from the wickedness"

Actually the latin bit means "save us from danger, save us from death" servatis a peliculum (like the spanish for dangerous peligroso) servatis a maleficium (anywors with male on the from is to do with death or bad luck

I've listened to that song so many times. And everytime I do, I think of the book of revelations. Think about it... If you going to look at it from a religious stand point, it clearly fits this. If you haven't read revelations, learn about it, then listen to "whisper"... You'll see what I mean.

This interpretation has been marked as poor. view anyway

The latin at the end means "save me from the evil, save me from the darkness"

I think this song is about a fear someone has, and how they can't run away from it, they have to face it or it will keep chasing her. And this "fear" is taking over her life and bringing her pain, and the only way to take away the pain, is for her to stop running.
