#1 top rated interpretation:You are only scraping the surface of the song. You are treating it as simple as a "POP" song. This is fucking poetry. It goes a lot deeper than portraying words that stand out about "relationships with girls and shit". It's not. It's not about a girl at all for a matter of fact. The song is about the sick and defiled music industry. Drugs, Pain, Selling out. Being fake. Being contradictive. Being used. The business vs the love of music. The beauty that has been lost, like a flower wilting and fading to black and white. That is why "pop stars" (and I interpret rap and EDM in this as well since all of these genres have nasty orgy's with eachother.) are so easy to kill. cause there is no love for the music. It's hollow, Replaceable and easy to hook, line, and sink her, (or him). It's just a bleeding greed of green and fame. None of it is real. None of it matters. None of it exists. The true love of music. The love of playing music. Listening to music, and learning music. That is what you don't want to lose. Today's standards do not apply to any of it. It's disposable, Edible, yet tasteless. But in the end, you will die with both the love and the hate for inducing the road to success and and career in this industry. Can't seem to let it go so die and fucking love me, cause there is no other way to live.

#3 top rated interpretation:My interpretation (And apologies for it being so morbid but in my defense it IS a slipknot song)It is about a male who has by one way or another found himself a drug addicted female under his care and rapes her as she overdoses.

This means she is an advanced user and is showing with the decay of her body. The abuser seems to be delighted by her self destruction.

She has used so much it's hard for her to find a vein in her arm, forcing her to get "creative" with injection sites.
"Lost inside her dirty world,
no one hurts this dirty girl but her"
This is the abuser excusing his actions because from his point of view he cannot do any harm to someone who does those sorts of things to themselves.
"Maybe I should let her go
But only when she loves me. She loves me
How can I just let her go?
Not until she loves me. She loves me"
The first time this chorus is sung the abuser is contemplating the ramifications of his actions but deciding the release is worth more, even diluting himself to believe what he is doing is "love"

This is the abuser recognizing his victim has gone too far and is overdosing, the perfect time to perform his evil deeds.

This is the victim in her severely altered state responding to the stimuli without full realization of the situation and the inability to close her eyes as she dies slowly.

This is the abuser realizing once he's tread this dark territory he cannot return to his regular life. He's had a taste of his darkest fantasy and can't settle for anything less.
When the chorus is sung the second time it's the abuser thinking one last time that he could try and save his victim but decides his gratification is more important.

Now die and fucking love me"
The abuser losing all remorse and accepting what he is doing will lead to his victim's death. Even going as far as to suggest she could only love him in death, or rather her death is her love for him.

This is the abuser proclaiming he's just as much of a victim as she is, saying they're both just victims of their addictions and powerless to fight them. -
If you've ever been with a narcissistic abusive person, you'll understand what I mean when I heard this song it made me feel was based on something like that. An abusive person feels the need to build u up before tearing u down. Buying u flowers just to turn around and hit u over and over again, and when they find something worse, they'll use it against u to make u crazy..but they are great liars and gifted manipulators...he once told me if he couldn't have me then no one would. This song is about a couple who are in it for drugs and the sex...and the abusive things they end up doing. It's a chemical toxic relationship.

There are many interpretations of this song. I agree with the 'NUMBER 1' voted in this section and Corey's own explanation. But I experienced this song in a different way so this is my personal interpretation of it:
I was in a toxic relationship with a guy who only used me for sex, while I was going through a difficult time in my life (e.d., self-harm, depression) after I got out of a long-term relationship. In fact it was him who showed me this song and it hit me in a different way. I was the girl in the song.

I had marks and scars from self-harm, and I was losing a lot of weight.

To cope with the pain I was feeling, I was not only hurting myself on the outside, but also on the inside by obsessing over the idea of dating him to forget my ex.

Sometimes he would show interest in me and other times he would disappear. He played with my mind and my feelings. It was some sort of game for him. He had to "win" me.

He seemed to enjoy manipulating and using me. When I was at my lowest, he could have me at his disposal.

When we had sex, it was the only time where I felt I had some control over myself or the situation, and he enjoyed that too. It was a toxic cycle.

At some point in the relationship, I wanted to hurt him too and I started to be a little more like him, but in the end when I did love him, it all ended.

It's a dark song definitely..the chorus is just mindbending I can't describe it but I love it..I'm 50 guys..and the first time I heard it..it gave me chills..I'm sure they will use this for a horror movie..it needs to be!!!

Speaking with the WGRD 97.9 FM radio station in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Corey Taylor expanded on the track's meaning. "The song is my reflection on my relationship with music," he said. "That's who the 'she' is. And not just music, but the music industry in general. So there's a love-hate relationship there that really kind of comes into view."
"There's the old adage, 'Be careful what you wish for,' and, 'Be careful doing what you love, because sometimes it will turn on you.' And, you know, anytime you mix something that you love and business, you're gonna find the rusty cracks in there that piss you off," Taylor continued. "So that song, really, is about how much I still love making music, but also how much I just hate the business side, the numbers side, the people in the suits who try to run stuff, and having to deal with them and having to learn how to talk to them."
"And, you know, it's frustrating sometimes, but it is what it is," he concluded. "And luckily, we got a great song out of it, and we were able to really paint something really cool with it and just be able to put it out there for people to dig." -
This is about Paul gray and his addiction to prescription drugs and how Corey could of helped him if he had known that Paul was addicted to his prescription drugs

I feel its about a girl who is a drug addict, harming herself as a demon watches. He likes seeing her fall deeper into her addiction because it is opening the door wider for him to possess her and at some point she finally gives in and allows him to. Her addiction was just too strong.

Its how everone that is helpless to stop the use, no matter how much they care about someone, drugs like heroin re-wire the brain to make the next high more important than the will to live. Her canvas doesn’t leave a lot to fantasy. I think that line talks about how drug addicts will lie and decieve everyone around them, but he is seeing through the lies. But her peace of mind can’t stay inside the lines, I think thats talking about how the high makes a person feel so good for the moment, but as soon as you come down, its back to reality. And addicts usually know what they are doing is wrong, they can tell you that going to get feels wrong, preparing the drugs are wrong, injecting the drugs are wrong. They know all this, but the need to use far out weighs anything else this life has to offer. Will she ever find a reason to quit? -
I personally think it's about a girl that has been through a lot. A girl that's been played by men numerous times. In the beginning it's him playing with her, her feelings. She doesn't show the pain but she hurts, she even hurt herself in the process but in the end, he is the one now that becomes obsessed and wants her to himself. But she is now the player.

Beautiful song. Very creepy and dark just the way I love. The needles in her skin might be tattooing or it might be drug use. To say her canvas doesn't leave a lot to fantasy seems like a tattooed body in all places. I think he loves this chick but also wants to own her and control her. She likes it and this is perfect. But the whole die and fucking love me thing sounds like frustration over intense love and hatred for her all at the same time. Pretty crazy. Totally love it.
